Sycamore Leaf

Carved from sycamore wood

with a bronze stalk.

7.5” wide and 12” long (inc. stalk)

Sycamore leaves curl into exquisite shapes during autumn...

The lungs of the world are a wonderful bit of biological engineering...

This was carved from a single piece of sycamore.

As it neared completion it was held by a small finger of wood which then had to be cut off........

a hole drilled, whilst holding it between my knees,

then the stalk (I’d fashioned from bronze rod) inserted and glued.......

one of the most nerve wracking finale’s I’ve ever done....

I would plan it differently now........
